Monchi reveals why he rejected the sale of Carlos
Sevilla sporting director Monchi has insisted the reason for rejecting Newcastle’s bid for Diego Carlos because the numbers are still unsatisfactory.
Brazilian centre-back Carlos That is a target for Newcastle’s army during the past week. Monchi has been confirmed to stay at Sevilla after January. Monchi insists Sevilla are not deterring Carlos’ transfer during the January transfer window. But because of the offers that Newcastle submitted, the figure for the fee did not meet the needs of the ufabet club.
“Newcastle’s offer is a very good and respectful offer. I have to say that but this offer Our board and management think it’s not enough,” Monchi said. “True, perhaps this is not the right moment. It was a difficult market to replace a player like Diego Carlos. It was a short market. Maybe if this offer came in the summer, things would change. This offer is a very good deal. But not at the best of times.”
Earlier Sevilla captain Ivan Rakitic said he believed the arrival of Anthony Martial could help the club keep Diego Carlos despite Newcastle offering to triple his wages.
Martial joined on loan this week until the end of the season and Rakitic said: ‘Anthony Martial [coming here] has shown that this is a big club where you can compete for everything. And if he can see it then so can the other players.
